Letter to Editor: A minutes silence for Workers Memorial Day

News / Tue 28th Apr 2020 at 07:34am

Workers Memorial Day 2020.

Dear Editor,

TODAY we mark Workers Memorial Day 2020 and as we do so we have in mind those on the front line that have given their lives to keep us safe as we suffer this shattering global pandemic.

And may we also take time in our day to remember all those around the world that have lost their lives in harsh conditions in factories to supply our goods and in doing so may we also redouble our efforts to bring about positive and lasting change to working conditions in the developing world and closer to home so that those wanting to provide for their families can do so in a safer and more structured environment.

They need our support and campaigning power so that they can feel empowered to make their world of work a better place for all.

In solidarity,

Jodi Dunne
Cllr for Bush Fair

We should make sure that the sacrifice of the emergency services and other essential workers is not forgotten in the future. May I suggest that a memorial tree be planted adjacent to the War Memorial in the Town Park.
