Letter to Editor: Why are bus passengers not wearing face masks?
Politics / Wed 24th Jun 2020 at 09:38am
Dear Editor,
AS a pensioner, I use the No 4 bus to go to and from home to the town centre in Harlow.
Since the mandatory wearing of face coverings, I have travelled several times this week and have witnessed persons travelling without face coverings.
When I enquired to the bus driver this morning (Friday) about it I was told although it is now law drivers cannot turn people away if they do not wear coverings.
So to this end if people are not going to be made to conform then what is the point?
Regards
Jim Warr
Note
We have contacted Arriva buses but they have yet to reply.
Not aware of what is happening in Harlow but the minicabs lined up in Hoddesdon yesterday had no sign of PPE and passengers were getting in with no face masks on. The bus drivers should simply not let passengers on and call the police if necessary. If people are allowed to get away with this, then all the weeks spent in lock down will have been wasted.
