Deputy leader of Harlow Council praises outgoing leader after he steps down

News / Mon 4th Oct 2021 at 09:16am

THE deputy leader of Harlow Council has praised councillor Andrew Johnson after he announced his sudden departure as leader of the council.

Cllr Joel Charles, who is stepping in as Interim Leader of Harlow Council, said:

“Andrew has been a major political force in Harlow for decades. It has been a privilege to serve as his deputy. He is a principled and straight-talking conservative who has always put Harlow first.

I have no doubt that he will continue to make a significant contribution to life in the town as he pursues the community projects he cares deeply about.

This has been a difficult decision for Andrew to make, but I look forward to continuing to work with him as we both share a commitment to extending opportunity and prosperity across the town.”

I would like to say good luck to councillor Andrew Johnson on his resignation and future plans. I had the joy and the pleasure of being on council as a local councillor for four years when councillor Andrew Johnson was then the opposition leader of Harlow council and a good one at that. Well done to Councillor Andrew Johnson and his team for knocking the Labour party off of their berch back in May this year and taking control of Harlow council after them being the administration party of Harlow for nine years, which in my opinion, was a total disaster All the best for the future councillor Andrew Johnson.
