Tag rugby is fine and rugby clubs are usually very family friendly and do much good to being people together in community: excellent, however, a note of caution, many teenage youngsters are injured in the high contact game beyond tag rugby some seriously. I speak from the experiences of close family so perhaps when lightning strikes more than once with life changing injuries and 7 hour surgery, from what seemed on the day "ordinary" hard knocks, I'm erring on the side of caution. There's risk in every sport admittedly, but the game needs to change for teens and even some young adults. It's time for the Sport Scientists to get involved to help sort things out, just as we now recognize Sudden Cardiac Failure, or heading a ball in football as risks, practices can be changed to reduce the chances of harm. Do enjoy sport, the benefits can be tremendous but be aware.
