AN UP and coming local author has opened a dedicated Reading Zone at Jerounds Primary Academy on World Book Day.

Charlie Mills opened the new area and then read from his first book, “It’s Cool To Be Me”.

We asked Head of School, Laura Ciftci, to tell us more about The Reading Zone.

“The Reading Zone was designed specifically to place reading at the centre of our daily school life; an ‘alternative‘ school library whereby children could develop a genuine love of literature and experience a breadth, wealth and diverse selection of genres.

“The inspirational larger-than life book covers continue to provide a calm and reflective space for our pupils to feel empowered to make their own choices about what they read – frequently transporting them to every corner of the globe.

” Likewise, our book shelves host tempting titles to create an essential habit of reading in our children. Reading really is, as our Reading Zone suggests … FUNdamental! “
