Stewards Academy hold bake sale for Save the Children Ukraine

STEWARDS Academy’s staff and student body demonstrated an overwhelming response to our bake sale in aid of Save the Children Ukraine.

Year 11 pupil and House Captain, Steph Nketia, had suggested the idea to raise funds and helped to rally support and design a poster to advertise it.  Over 130 pupils and staff contributed baked goods on the day and the bake sale ran for two days with pretty much all the wonderful goodies sold.

Pupils and staff were incredibly generous in their monetary contributions too and appreciated the opportunity to show their support. Nearly £1000 was raised across the two days.

Di da Vighi, Enrichment Co-ordinator, said: “The strength of feeling from our student body and the desire to support the displaced people of Ukraine was fantastic to see. This was not only demonstrated by the bringing and buying of cakes, but also through the conversations and discussions that were taking place as to why we were doing this. Our young people recognise the suffering and devastation that has emerged over the last few weeks and the impact the war has had on an entire nation. I am very proud of everyone that took part and thank the wider school community for their support.”
