Football: Harlow Town’s season ends in defeat

Southern League Division South
Thame United 3 v 1 Harlow Town
THERE should be no papering over the cracks. This has been a deeply underwhelming season for Harlow Town.
So perhaps it is fitting that they ended the season with a defeat to a team beneath them.
They began the season in good shape and looked difficult to beat. However it soon became apparent that they were struggling to win games.
In the end out of 38 games, there was 21 that they simply didn’t win.
For many in the club, they were just happy to be back playing in front of crowds. However, that should have worn off in September, not last all season.
You only have to look over at Aveley. A very similar set up to Harlow Town who have just won a Step 4 league (Isthmian Division North) and look very ambitious indeed.
On the other hand, Danny Chapman may have brought stability this season. Seventh place may be a base camp from which a proper assault on promotion will take place next season.
