Outstanding results for Harlow Gymnastics Club at Essex Champs

FANTASTIC results for Harlow gymnastics club at the month-long Essex Regional General Gymnastics levels events in Colchester, competing against top-flight clubs including South Essex, Iceni, Colchester, Chelmsford, Havering, Performers, Unique and Swallows. 

Confident routines and happy gymnasts saw an amazing haul of awards in the level 5 competitions. Winning 2nd overall in the age 10-11 event, Natasha Bishop accomplished silver medals for both bars and beam, bronze medal on floor and 4th place rosette for vault. Maybel Brooks achieved gold on beam, silver on floor, with 4th and 5th place rosettes for bars and vault respectively, finishing comfortably in 3rd place overall. With gold on floor, silver on vault, bronze on beam and 5th place rosette on bars, Milli Battelley gained 4th place overall. A solid all-around performance from Poppy Bridgewater earned a 5th place overall finish along with 4th place rosettes for floor and bars, 5th place rosette on beam and 6thplace rosette on vault. Undeterred by a wobble on beam, Lara Petridis took the bronze medals for vault and bars, 4th place rosette for floor, as well as the 6th place rosette for beam to finish in 6th place overall.  

After an exquisite overall performance winning the level 3 age 8 event, Poppy Dear attained a championship clean sweep by achieving gold on vault, bars, beam, and floor.  

Meanwhile in the 12-13 level 5 event Renee Stewart won the gold medal for floor, 4th place rosettes for vault and beam along with 6th place rosette on bars achieving  a commendable 3rd place overall. Sienna Smith took bronze on vault, 4th place rosettes for bars and floor and 5th place rosette on beam finishing in 5th place overall, with teammate Lucy Broughfinishing 0.05 points behind in 6th place. Lucy also secured a bronze medal on beam as well as 4th place rosettes for both vault and floor.  

Despite fierce competition in the 16-17 level 5 event, Grace Codlin attained 4th place rosettes for vault and beam as well as 5th place rosettes for bars and floor to finish In 6th place overall. 

Performing in the largest competitive group, Delilah Cavendish placed 24th overall with teammate Lexi Dolan placing 27th overall in the level 2 age 10-11 event. 

Smiles all around in the level 2 event from Mia Allen and Katie Garland, despite Mia narrowly missing out on the beam rosette by only 0.1. Both Mia and Katie passed their levels with flying colours. 

Undaunted by the considerable competition in the level 4 age 10-11 event, Molly Mather earned the 4th place rosette on beam to finish in 7th place overall, with teammate Sofia Shraka only 0.05 points behind and Shilah Wynter-Grace 0.3 after to finish in 8th and 9th positions, respectively. Saoirse Cassey-Bond won the 5th place rosette on floor finishing in 11th place overall, while Layla Clark achieved 6th place rosette on vault finishing in 13th place overall. Eva Reeves placed 18th overall in the same event.  

Ending the competitions on a high, Marci Short shone in first place overall in the level 4 age 9 event, with 3 gold medals for vault, bars and beam as well as scooping the bronze on floor. Poppy White attained gold medal for vault, silver on beam and took 4th place rosettes for bars and floor, securing 4th place overall.  

The top three gymnasts from each competition qualify for the regional finals to be held later in the year.
