Plans for refurbished waiting area Harlow Mill railway station submitted

General / Tue 21st Jun 2022 at 10:38am

A PLANNING application to demolish a severely ‘damaged’ train station waiting area has been submitted.

Abellio East Anglia, who owns Greater Anglia, submitted plans to Harlow Council to knock down and replace the existing passenger service area of Harlow Mill train station reports Essex Live.

The building has been shut since November 2020 after safety concerns due to ‘structural issues.’ Since the closure, it has been the victim of “vandalism, damage and general misuse”.

Greater Anglia says the building has “suffered from extensive modification and part demolition over its life and now retains very little of its original character.” They added that the building does not provide accessible facilities for persons with reduced mobility, neither for passengers nor staff using the station.
