Harlow is 75: Dancing from Ukraine to Harlow: Interview with Tatania Lotiuk from Circus Cortex
Harlow is 75: A Celebration of Global Harlow / Sat 24th Sep 2022 at 03:25pm

THIS is the third of our pieces with Circus Cortex, who have been performing at the Harlow Showground.
We interviewed Tatania Lotiuk, who is a dancer with the circus.
We discussed her home town and the beauty of Lyiv.
Naturally, Tatania and the rest of the troupe are very concerned about the war but they also have an optimism and positivity that is important to document in 2022 and as part of our project.
Tatiana Lotiuk was in Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine when the war broke out.
“I decided that I could be killed on the first day of the war. It could happen and I just accepted it,” she says. “I was living everyday just hoping to wake up tomorrow.”
To mark the town’s 75thanniversary, Harlow Council and Your Harlow have launched a project which records the diverse history, heritage, and culture of the people and groups which are part of modern-day Harlow.
The Harlow at 75 project is made up of audio-visual recordings of conversations with both individuals and groups that explores their lives abroad before resettling in Harlow. The project reflects that we are a local but global new town and explores themes such as the definition of “Home”.
