ACL Essex / Wed 8th Mar 2023 at 10:28am

FUNDED training available for new starters and existing professionals within the Health & Social Care sector.

Adult learning provider, ACL Essex, has been awarded additional funds that extend the delivery of The Nightingale Care Bursary across Essex until the end of 2025. The bursary aims to help those who work within the Health & Social Care sector to progress within their careers and reduce any barriers for those looking to start a career in the sector.

The adult education provider’s dedicated engagement team will be supporting individuals across the county to access the fantastic opportunities and careers within the Health & Social Care sector, no matter what their previous experience, knowledge, or skills.

As well as funding the training of Health & Social Care employees, personal assistants and those who work as unpaid carers, the bursary will also support continued professional development including fast track management opportunities.

The Fast Track Management programme is a great opportunity for those who are looking to develop their career to work within a rewarding leadership role. It is available to anyone with previous team leading, management or supervisory experience.

For those starting an apprenticeship, the bursary will support with associated costs such as work clothing, travel and equipment.

Cllr John Spence, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Adults, said: “Everyone’s Essex is not just a slogan. We want everyone in Essex to have access to high quality and choices in social care and that means ensuring a plentiful and well-trained workforce. Equally we want people in all parts of the county to have access to jobs and training which physical or financial constraints might appear to rule out.”

He continued: “The Nightingale scheme works towards both these ambitions, and I am delighted that the initial funding and partnership with Adult Community Learning has enabled us to commit these further funds and to expand the scheme.”

The bursary offers fully funded Level 2 or 3 qualifications in a range of subjects including Technology Enabled Care, Infection Control, Safe Handling of Medication, Care Planning, End of Life Care, Care and Management of Diabetes and Dementia Awareness, Healthcare, Housekeeping or Hospitality, Leadership & Management, and Social Care.
