Walker’s Warriors take on the Race For Life in Harlow

Charity / Wed 10th May 2023 at 05:58am

THIS Sunday saw Harlow host its yearly Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK in our beautiful town park.

One local resident, Alison Walker took part with her daughter Emilia, along with friends and their children.

Emilia, aged 9  wanted to raise money for the incredible charity after her mum Alison had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

So dressed in pink, Emilia, Alison and their warriors and warriorettes walked the 5k route around Harlow, all with smiles on their faces!

Alison has been positive throughout her treatment and has kept as active as she could, when possible by going for walks with members of the local club Innovation Multisport, who don’t just welcome athletes who run, swim and bike but walkers who need to keep active for their mental health.

Just being around others and moving gives you a great feeling and gets those happy endorphines flowing!

Alison’s two friends, Karen Burnall and Michele Leutchford, who also took part in the 5k are cancer survivors and Alison can now say she is one too after being given the all clear a few weeks ago!

But that won’t stop the Walker Warriors, because in September Alison and a group of ladies from Innovation Multisport are taking on the 26.2 miles through the streets of London at night doing the Shine Night Walk  Marathon for Cancer.

Emilia has done a fantastic job of raising over £500 already, so lets help the Walker Warriors raise some more!!
