Letter to Editor: Rundells residents appreciate their new bins
Lifestyle / Wed 17th May 2023 at 08:49am
Dear Editor,
ON behalf of the residents from Latton Green and Rundells can we thank the council and HTS for the installation of a new multi purpose bin.
Residents have been raising concerns over the lack of bins by the Latton field for several years.
Most weeks one of the local residents will be out collecting rubbish from the field and then leave it for the council to collect.
We were concerned when we noticed the base getting laid and were fearful of what would happen next.
The combined efforts of local residents, councillors and other partners has at last achieved success.
In life it’s the little successes that make a difference.
Let’s hope it will be well used.
Thank you.
Tony Durcan.

It is good provided the dog owners put their pet's poo in the bins. In a 3 month period contracting for HTS last year I had to go home to shower and change after getting covered in poo on two occasions. Some irresponsible dog owners dumped plastic bags full of poo in the long weeds and in one instance those bags were coloured green. Council tax payers are paying for that downtime, which included cleaning the brushcutter and harness.
🙄 What goes around comes around 😉
David foreman, what difference does colour of bags make. If people are going to dump them it doesn't matter what colour. Theses bins provided are years long over due. Have they placed any by woods? Have they placed more down the rivers where people can carry bags for miles, that's why there dumped. Quite often theses dog bins are placed only on walk ways or fields. Don't this council know, an awful lot of people walk of grid.
David you are full of poo
Sadly, I can only agree with David Forman in this point. Some dog owners do not clear up after their pooch & when they do, they with launch the bag into the bushes or hang from a tree!! I own 2 dogs whom I always clear up after & despite walking with crutches, I take their 'puppy parcels' home with me. I will never & have never left their poop behind. I have poop bags in the pocket of every coat & handbag & have often offered them to other owners who seemingly 'didnt see' their Fido pooping!!
Jennifer, couldn’t you use your spare bags to pick up the dogs mess of these morons, and show community spirit (as a Green Party activist) huh?
