Rugby: Harlow Rugby Club captain Bowering bows out

General / Sat 8th Jul 2023 at 12:18pm

AFTER five years Luke Bowering is stepping down as 1st XV captain.

Luke, who skippered The RedMen to two successive promotions, a league title and led them out at Twickenham isn’t hanging up his boots however and will continue to play a pivotal role in the Men’s 1st XV this season.

Club coach Mike Weston said: “Luke has decided that at this stage of his rugby life he would like to concentrate on playing.

“His performances on the pitch and his passion for the club have inspired his teammates over the last five seasons and he has played a pivotal role in not only the success the 1st XV have had, but also within the club, giving up his time to coach youth sides and present awards, that will no doubt inspire Harlow’s future players.

“He will continue to lead by example and we look forward to him continuing to play for the side this season and beyond.

“Luke is a true clubman and we can’t thank him enough for everything he has given us”
