Athletics: Harlow Running Club show high standards at High Easter

HARLOW Running and Tri Club were represented at the High Easter 10k where Rob Lowe led the way in 13th place out 1829 finishers and 1st Male Vet 50 in an excellent 35min 28sec. He was followed by Martin Westley in 20th place in 37.14. Catherine Ridge was 65th and 3rd Female Vet 40 in 42.52, Linda Helm-Manley 110th in 48.25, John Bull 118th in 48.48, Gary Mead 148th in 50.39, John Tennant 149th and 1st Male Vet 70 in 50.45, Pasquale Pellecchia 192nd and 3rd Male Vet 70 in 54.30, Liz Roberts 243rd in 59.48, Debbie Mead 255th in 1hr 02min 09sec and Stephen Cozens 298th in 1.11.10.
Meanwhile, at the Victoria Falls Half Marathon, in Zimbabwe, Andy Kinney finished in 1358th place out of 1829 finishers in 3.01.16.
At the Mitre 10k, at Bishop’s Stortford, Kevin Smith finished in 9th place out of 120 finishers in 41.53 and Jon Steadman was 37th in 49.27.
In the Mitre 5k Vicky Steadman was 14th out of 82 finishers and 1st Female Vet 40 in 22.34.
The Asics London 10k passes some of central London’s iconic landmarks including Big Ben, the London Eye and the River Thames. Timothy Wood finished in 1924th place out of 13,362 finishers in 46.07, Angela Maricondra was 9964th in 1.06.39 and Lisa Brett 9967th in 1.06.40.
At the Summer Ready Run at Ferry Meadows, Peterborough, Laura Prime completed 6 laps for a total distance of 19.6 mile in 3hrs 11min 52sec.
Some of HRTC’s triathletes were in action at 3 events over the weekend including 2 exhausting Half Ironmans.
At the Cotswold Half Ironman (1.2m lake swim, 56m bike, 13.1m run) Paige Bircham finished in 281st place out of 510 finishers in an excellent 5hrs 49min 19sec, a PB by over 8mins.
At the Outlaw Holkham Half Ironman at Nottingham (1.2m lake, swim, 56m bike, 13.1m run) Claire Carter finished in 1060th place out of 1106 finishers in 7.27.51.
At the Southend ‘Sundried’ Sprint Triathlon (750mt coastal swim, 20km bike, 5km run) Emma Luck finished in 106th place out of 165 finishers and 3rd Female Vet 45 in 1.45.52, in her debut at the distance.
While on holiday in Australia Colin Baker ran the Cairns parkrun, finishing in 6th place out of 328 finishers in a PB time of 19.00.
