HENRY Moore Studios & Gardens is thrilled to announce a captivating addition to our summer series, responding to “Vitality: The Human Landscapes of Henry Moore,” artist Felix Taylor has been commissioned to create a mesmerising Listening/Mapping soundscape for visitors to interact with on our Bloomberg Connects App.
The soundscape has been designed to capture the interplay between the minimal, abstract form of Moore’s sculptures and the organic disorder of the surrounding nature. By seamlessly blending these elements, felix’s creation will transport listeners into a world where art and nature converge in perfect harmony.
In preparation for this project, Felix immersed himself in the captivating atmosphere of Henry Moore Studio & Gardens, gathering field recordings and crafting unique audio experiences. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with this audio journey digitally through the Bloomberg Connects App.
Listeners will be encouraged to embrace the immersive experience by playing a series of three soundtracks out loud, utilising their phone speakers. This interactive approach aims to intertwine the audio composition with the natural sounds of bird song, sheep’s cries, and the occasional participation of other visitors’ devices, creating a symphony of harmonious coexistence.
In addition felix has created a captioned video piece to interpret and accompany the work through words. Adding another dimension and access point for audiences, and developing the part of his practice.
‘Listening in to felix’s soundscape offers a whole new frame of focus to the sculptures & the grounds, it’s been a pleasure to witness this thoughtful creative response grow so organically.’ Sophie Greenstreet, Engagement Curator, Henry Moore Studios & Gardens.
