VJ Day commemorated in Harlow Town Park

A SMALL crowd gathered near Netteswell Cross in Harlow Town Park on Monday to commemorate Victory in Japan Day, VJ Day.
Rev Albert Watson led a short service which included a moving speech from Pam Gillespie about her father, George Money, who was a Prisoner of War in Japan for over three years.
Wreaths were laid by Andrew Johnson on behalf of Harlow, Carlo Pelka on behalf of The Royal British Legion and Pam Gillespie on behalf of COFEPOW (Children of Far East Prisoners of War).
Four of George Money’s great grandchildren also laid a small wreath.
The last post was played by John Gillespie to complete a moving service.
