WESTON Homes, a longstanding St Clare Hospice supporter based in Takeley, held their annual fundraising golf day on 17th August and raised an incredible £156,000 for the local hospice charity.

The prestigious event was held at The Belfry Hotel and Resort, in Sutton Coldfield and was attended by 45 teams made up of Weston Homes contractors, suppliers and colleagues. The teams played over two courses, The Brabazon and National PGA with interior design company, Keylon taking home the cup.

The hotly contested game was followed by an evening of entertainment and fundraising where the main auction boasted an array of sought after lots, including a pair of Anthony Joshua signed boxing shorts, a week’s stay in Portugal and a signed print by Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso.

St Clare Director of Income Generation and Communications, Rosie Knowles said: “Weston Homes continue to be incredible St Clare supporters. We never imagined they would beat last year’s total of £150,000, so to see the total rise to £156,000 this year was humbling and wonderful at the same time!

£156,000 could cover the cost of staffing our Hospice at Home team for just under four months. The team visit patients at home when their need is most acute. Their specialist knowledge and expertise, enable family to become wives, husbands, sons and daughters again, rebuilding family relationships that have been so strained by caring for their loved ones at such a difficult time.

Rosie continued, ‘the generous backing from Weston Homes, as well as the numerous businesses and individuals who took part in this fundraising event, mean we are able to reach more people, earlier in their journey and ensure we are flexible in our approach as to how and where we deliver the vital care. This may be in someone’s home, a nursing or care home, or in our local wellbeing hubs.  On behalf of our entire team, including our dedicated doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers, along with our patients, I would to thank everyone who made today happen.’

Bob Weston, Chairman at Weston Homes, said: “I never fail to be amazed at the specialist care that the teams at St Clare give, every day. Each year so many local families are comforted and supported by specialist doctors, nurses, therapists and volunteers. We couldn’t do without them in West Essex, and so I’m proud Weston Homes continues to help fund all the work that they do. Thanks to everyone on the day who helped us raise a record breaking £156,000!’
