THE CHAIR OF HARLOW Council held the latest in his series of Gems of Harlow ceremonies in their main chamber on Thursday evening.
Members of the scouts and other uniformed organisations for young people were recognised.
There was a reception beforehand where the chair, Andrew Johnson as well as the leader of Harlow Council, Dan Swords spoke to those invited.
A film of the ceremony is below.
There will be more photos to come.
The Scouts, Guides and Cadet organisations provide excellent opportunities for our young people and certainly deserve to be recognised. At a time when we hear so much about crime and youth anti-social behaviour, these organisations provide a shining alternative as to what can be achieved. They merit our full support and encouragement. As far as I am aware, the Burnt Mill Academy operates a successful Combined Cadet Force for pupils. Other schools might consider following their lead and encourage the development of closer links with Scout and Guide groups in Harlow to engage more young people.
