THE council has launched an animation about healthy relationships for young people. The animation has been developed in partnership with a group of local young people. The group have written and developed the animation ‘Relationships: Bee-ing healthy’.

The project is part of the council’s wider early intervention work with young people that aims to reduce the risk of conflict, domestic abuse and poor mental health.

The animation outlines what a healthy relationship looks like and how to develop one. It aims to equip young people with the knowledge to be able to maintain positive relationships but also know how to safely exit unhealthy ones.

The animation focuses on five key elements:

· be honest

· be open

· be respectful

· be brave

· believe in yourself

Councillor Beverley Egan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families said: “Learning about healthy relationships needs to start at a young age so that children and young people understand what is acceptable in a relationship and what is not.

“The young people involved in this project have worked so hard and have produced a really informative, innovative and moving piece of content that I hope will be viewed by many young people in the county. Well done to all involved.”

The animation can be found on Youtube and will be shared by the council, partners and the young people to their peers.
