General Election 24: Interview with Yasmin Gregory of the Green Party

Elections / Mon 3rd Jun 2024 at 08:07am

AT THE WEEKEND, we interviewed the Harlow Green Party candidate, Yasmin Gregory.

Over the last few years, Ms Gregory has been instrumental in increasing the presence of the Green Party in Harlow.

From Sumners to Old Harlow, the Greens have shown a real passion to preserve and promote the good in the town and reform the bad.

Their passionate defence of the green belt has been commendable.

Yasmin Gregory, Leader of Harlow Green Party said: “Since the last General Election, the country has seen a steady growth of the Green Party.

In May the Party gained 74 councillors at England’s local elections, taking its total tally to more than 800 councillors on 174 councils. It is imperative that everyone in Harlow votes for who they want to be the next MP for the town.

For those residents who chose not to vote (75% did not vote in the local election), for those who say they are not interested in politics, as Martha Gellhorn, the famous journalist and war correspondent said, ‘They might as well say, ‘I’m not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future or any future.’

I am not a career politician, I am an ordinary person who could not stand by and say nothing about what is happening in Harlow. You have a Green candidate who is prepared to represent you in Westminster. Now is the time to use your vote.”

Great interview. Clearly a normal Harlow resident and the Greens are definetly on the rise in Harlow. Probably the best chance to remove the Conservative and Labour from power would be to put your votes to the Greens. And in 4 years from no party to the 3rd biggest out of 8 is a great achievement
