A GROUP of children from Abbotsweld Primary Academy recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Lord’s Cricket Ground, famously known as the Home of Cricket. This exciting visit was as a result of a nomination by Essex County Cricket Club due to their exemplary behaviour and outstanding passion for sports, demonstrated during the spring term when Essex Cricket Club visited their school to teach them. Thank you for the nomination Essex!

The visit to Lord’s was made possible through the ‘Chance to Shine’ program, which aims to inspire children through cricket. During their visit, the students toured the iconic media centre, explored the changing rooms, and marvelled at the grandeur of the historic backrooms. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance to play on the pitch itself, where many legendary cricketers have made history.

The children returned from this awe-inspiring experience full of enthusiasm and excitement. Inspired by their visit, many expressed a strong desire to start their own cricket club at Abbotsweld Primary Academy. Here’s to the future cricket stars of Abbotsweld!

This memorable trip not only gave the children a taste of professional cricket but also ignited a passion that promises to grow within the school community.
