BMAT STEM Academy: Growing business-focused sixth form celebrates helping young people in chosen careers

Year 13 students at BMAT STEM Academy, in Harlow, collected their A-level results today after the summer’s exams.

The oversubscribed sixth form has a focus on subjects in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths and provides students with regular and direct links to industry contacts.

The unique school and sixth form, which caters for students from Year 10 onwards, prides itself on getting to know students as individuals and supporting them to find rewarding careers.

Among the top achievers this year are – 

  • Haydon Costall, who achieved Distinctions in BTEC engineering and 3D design. He is going on to study animation, alongside working part-time at Lazer Lights, in Harlow, where he completed his work experience.
  • Fleur Salhi, who achieved A*A*B in her maths, further maths and physics courses is heading to Imperial College to study mechanical engineering
  • Kenzie Deamer and Mateo Reynald-Abad who are both heading to Loughborough University to study engineering

Tiaan Visser, head of sixth form, said: “We are once again delighted with the results our students have achieved.

“Our sixth form is at the largest student number we have ever been at and continues to grow and succeed. We are really excited to see what comes next for these students and look forward to following their journeys.”

Dave Ramsey, head of centre, said: “I would like to thank the students, staff and families for the effort and support they have put into helping our students.

“We are so excited for what their futures hold.”
