Schools in multi academy trusts benefit from sharing resources, expertise and staff. In Harlow, our schools also share a close community.
This week, our community has been rocked by the tragic loss of one of our students.
As a BMAT school, we share the grief experienced by our colleagues, friends and families and offer our condolences to those closest to Dishone Lloyd at Mark Hall Academy.
While we celebrate the successes of our students on results day, we have Dishone in our thoughts.

STUDENTS returned to Burnt Mill Academy today to collect their GCSE results.
Year 11 students came together at the school, in Harlow, to discover what they had achieved in the summer’s exams.

Almost 50 per cent of students achieved a Grade 5 – above the standard pass – in English, maths and science and more than 60 per cent of the cohort achieved the standard pass in those core subjects.
Headteacher Laura McGlashan said: “Students have also achieved extremely well in a whole range of subjects, proving they have been taught a broad curriculum that prepares them so well for the next stage of their educational journey.
“Thank you to all the staff and parents and carers who have worked together to support our wonderful young people. Congratulations to all of our students who have worked so hard to achieve these results.
“There are so many fantastic individual achievements and success stories for this cohort, and we are immensely proud of all our students.
“We wish them all the very best for the future.”
Among the top performing students this year are –
Phil Ellard, assistant headteacher, said: “I am incredibly proud of this year group. Their early secondary school experience was dominated by Covid-19, however they never let that dominate their attitude as they developed into a hardworking and dedicated year group, filled with so many positive characters that I will genuinely miss seeing around our school next year.
“It has been my great pleasure to oversee their progress and their achievements.”
