THREE former Harlow councillors, who served their town for a over 75 years have been awarded the status of alderman of the town.
It is an honorary title intended to recognise eminent service of past members of a council.
The people awarded were: Eddie Johnson, Mark Wilkinson and Simon Carter.
The ceremony took place in the civic chambers on Wednesday afternoon.
Both the leader of Harlow Council, cllr Dan Swords and the chair of Harlow Council, led the ceremony.
Mr Johnson and Mr Wilkinson were joined by their family.
Mr Carter was unwell and so was represented by his wife and son.
Film of the event is below.
Well done to you all.
Same as always rewards and pat on the backs for long service, during which the town has declined and taxes have risen. What have they actually achieved for the town? We need to not have politicians in office for decades, we need people with drive and ambition not party members.
I’d like to nominate Alan Jones.
Second that
Alan has my vote. Not only hard working and true to his principles, no matter the setbacks, but kind and considerate to all with whom he comes into contact.
Who could disagree with the selection of Alan Jones?
I would certainly agree with all the above who commented about Alan Jones, a true Champion of Harlow
Congrats Simon Carter
