ON Friday 27th September, primary school pupils in Essex competed in a bowling event organised by Panathlon. Panathlon is a national charity which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs every year the opportunity to take part in competitive sport.

Two teams from Tany’s Dell Resource Base for Deaf children took part in the event and were very excited to take home the trophy for Gold and Silver. They all received gold or silver medals and one of the pupils received a double gold medal for scoring 124 points- the highest score on the day!

Rebecca Reay, Teacher of the Deaf, said: “The Panathlon events gives the children a chance to represent the school.
“This builds their confidence and social skills and they get to have lots of fun. They were very excited to receive two trophies and were very pleased to show them to the whole school in assembly.
“We are very proud of them”.
