A 20 strong team from leading mobility retailer CareCo has raised an impressive £8000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The CareCo Corporate Social Responsibility team, took on the Jurassic Coast as part of Macmillan’s Mighty Hike initiative.
After an early rise to set off from CareCo HQ in Braintree, Essex, at 5am, the team set off to tackle the Jurassic coast on a cold September morning. The hike started in Wareham and went all the way to the finish line in Swanage. Through JustGiving and cash donations the team managed to raise over £8000 and counting.

The challenge included tackling steep cliff inclines and muddy territory across a huge 14 miles (further than a half marathon) after route changes due to weather conditions leaving a team with very sore muscles and wet feet, so it’s a huge achievement. After completing the challenge, the team were kindly treated to lunch by the Macmillan team.
The reasons for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support as our charity is because our industry caters for people no matter what their mobility issues are, and Macmillan cares for people no matter what their cancer is. CareCo has also supported 6 members of staff across the last 3 years through their own cancer journeys.
Jane Bunting, Head of HR and participant in the hike said, “I couldn’t be prouder of my team. This trek was tough, but it’s for a cause that is dear to our hearts and affects many people every day. We know the impact of Macmillan’s work and being able to play a part in that is humbling. It just goes to show our team are never scared of a challenge, and that when there is one ahead, we will take it on with gusto!”
