Harlow Chorus set to make Gloria return to Epping

HARLOW Chorus is returning to St John’s Church in Epping on Saturday 9th November for its autumn concert featuring the ever-popular and joyful Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.
The choir is having a very successful year, having had two sell-out concerts in the past 12 months and having been awarded a Harlow Gems award from Harlow Council recognising its numerous contributions to the arts in the area. On a more sombre note, the choir was invited to sing at a packed memorial concert in Ely Cathedral in September celebrating the life and legacy of its founder, Michael Kibblewhite, who sadly died last year.

Alongside the much-loved Vivaldi Gloria, composed in Venice around 1715, the choir is performing Dixit Dominus a hidden gem by a female composer, Marianna Martines (1744-1812). She was a pupil of Haydn and in her time was the most popular female composer in Europe. The “Missa Brevis” by William Mathias is a twentieth century work for choir and organ, and the piece is the perfect showcase for the magnificent instrument at St John’s.
The concert, conducted by Edward-Rhys Harry with Aeron Preston on organ, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15.00 each, under 18s £5, and are available at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/harlowchorus
