PAH suspend appointments by text as they continue to embed new £31 million electronic health system

PRINCESS Alexandra Hospital bosses have announced that they have suspended sending out appointments by text message until the end of November.
A spokesperson said: “Due to the implementation of Alex Health, we have paused our patient SMS text appointment reminders until the end of November 2024”
“Please refer to the letter you received when your appointment was booked for all the information you need about your appointment slot.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding”.
One of the key problems, people across Harlow have had over the past few years is late mail and in some cases, no mail at all.
Alex Health is a new £31 million electronic patient record system that went live at the weekend.

My husband tried to change an appointment and phones are being left unmanned. He sent a letter in the end, but I doubt it will be read. It's great treatment when you get there, but admin is bad.

Hopefully it will link up with all GP surgeries in the already quite large PAH catchment area. BUT somehow I have a feeling it will not do so. Furthermore, rather than a bespoke system for one NHS Trust would it have better to have a UK-wide system, which I seem to recall was promised many years ago?

You shouldn't put a service out before fully testing the staff's ability to use it! More excuses from a poorly run hospital . I'm surprised that our new MP didn't contact patients for their opinion rather than the hospital administration

Phones are only left unmanned due to staff shortages. Staff have been having training for the last month, sorry we’re not working to your standards! Try walking a mile in our shoes before slandering us.

Ruby it's not the staff that are being slandered it's the fact that the system has gone live without adequate training which is now causing problems such as telephones not being answered and mail boxes full
