Stewards Academy: Parents and students flock to Year 9 options evening
Education: Secondary / Mon 2nd Dec 2024 at 09:44am
STEWARDS Academy has started the options process for our current Year 9 students this year.
Selecting the right GCSE and/or vocational courses is an important step in the transition from KS3 to KS4 and we want to make sure the process is right for our students.

The process was launched by an ‘options evening’ with a talk by Mr Hughes, Assistant Headteacher, followed by an opportunity to visit subject stalls to find out more about specific courses.

Students will have the opportunity to make their initial choices before having a one-on-one interview with a senior member of staff and subject taster sessions later in the year.
Stephen Drew, Headteacher, said “We have taken the decision to open up the dialogue early with our students and their parents/carers. It was excellent to see so many of the cohort attending the talk and event in the sports hall.
“I heard many mature and appropriate questions being asked by our young adults. I look forward to working on this journey with them as they make their first decisions about their future courses.”
