Little Parndon students set out to “transform our world”

STUDENTS at Little Parndon Primary Academy have made a big impact through the ‘Transform Our World’ programme, an initiative led by environmental charity, Global Action Plan and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Aimed at empowering young people aged 7 to 14, the 10-week programme supports students to take action on the social and environmental issues that matter to them, creating positive change in their schools and communities.

For their ‘Transform Our World’ project, a group of passionate Year 5 and 6 students from Little Parndon Primary decided to focus their attention on helping local wildlife.

The students built hedgehog homes and squirrel feeders to place in their school’s forest area and donated a range of much-needed supplies to HEART Rescue (Harlow Essex Animal Rescue Team), a local organisation dedicated to supporting wildlife in Harlow and neighbouring areas.

The students were very excited when the HEART Rescue team came to visit them at school and collect the donations. This heartwarming initiative demonstrates the power of community spirit and the tangible benefits of young people taking action on the causes they care about.

The ‘Transform Our World’ programme is delivered directly in schools by Honor Hayes, Global Action Plan’s Youth Engagement Practitioner for Essex and is currently running in schools across Essex until the end of this academic year, with limited spaces available.

Schools interested in participating can contact Honor at [email protected].
