THE top tech businesses in Essex have been recognised in the new edition of the Ambitious Essex Tech 50 list.
The Ambitious Essex Tech 50 includes businesses across each of the Greater Essex districts, boroughs and cities. They range from small start-ups to household names in the industry, such as Teledyne.

The list covers a range of industries, from IT services and gaming to agriculture and financial technology.
To make the list, businesses were judged against a set of criteria, including turnover, investment secured and growth potential.
The Ambitious Essex Tech 50 was first created in 2024 to celebrate innovation in Essex and recognise the top businesses in the sector. The latest list recognises the top tech firms in the county right now.
Across the county in 2023, the telecom and digital technology sectors boasted around 5,270 businesses. These businesses employed 20,000 people and in 2022 generated more than £1.274 billion in Gross Added Value (GVA).
Councillor Louise McKinlay, Essex County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities, Economic Growth and Prosperity, said: “The tech sector in Essex is absolutely thriving and the county is right at the heart of the tech revolution happening across the UK right now.
“The businesses on the Ambitious Essex Tech 50 are at the forefront of innovation in the industry and leading ground-breaking developments which are changing the tech, research and manufacturing industries in Essex and across the country.
“We’re passionate about supporting innovative businesses and industries and it is encouraging to see so many inspirational tech businesses in the county embrace new ways of working and join the tech revolution.”
Luke Brown, Founder and Managing Director of &Element, an Ambitious Essex Tech 50 business based in Colchester, said: “We’re thrilled to be included in the Ambitious Essex Tech 50 list for 2025. At &Element, we’ve worked hard to innovate and deliver exceptional solutions, from cutting-edge SaaS platforms to transformative AI-driven services. Being recognised among Essex’s leading tech businesses is a testament to our team’s dedication and creativity.

“We’re proud to call Essex our home and look forward to continuing our journey of innovation and collaboration in this thriving region.”

Maybe, just maybe "Greater Essex', your focus should be on fixing stuff rather that making up lists. Essex Social Care is broken and the pothole situation seems no better than last year. How about fixing the bridge on the way to Sheering where you've done nothing for more than a year?
Yo Adam, are you on this list?
