MARK Burey of Harlow reversed his diabetes after just seven months of joining his local Slimming World group, shedding three stone four and a half pounds to reach his ideal weight.

Before Mark decided to take action he was suffering with a multitude of diabetes related symptoms, Mark said “ I was in so much pain, I had cramps in the night, irritable leg syndrome and frequent head aches”, since losing the weight Mark has found these have all vanished. 

As well as his diabetes symptoms going he has experienced some addtional very welcome health benefits, Mark said “ I now feel so much fitter, can walk further distances without gasping for air and I can shop in River Island and Next for clothes that don’t swamp me!” 

Mark started Donna’s group in Bush Fair after being encouraged by his wife Angela who went along with him and is currently weeks away from achieving her dream weight too.

The couple were so surprised by the variety of foods you can eat and love nothing more than whipping up a tasty “fakeaway” treat like a curry or chinese on a Friday night as well as a full english breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Mark’s advice to those on their weight loss journey: “ celebrate every victory on the way, whether that’s the number on the scales, inches lost or something non scale related, and stay to the group” Mark and Angela found that staying to the group sessions really helped them learn how to lose weight around their busy social life and overcome his biggest challenge of reducing his alcohol intake.
