LONDON Stansted’s latest jobs fair attracted almost 1,500 jobseekers as the airport ramps up recruitment to support both this summer’s operations and long-term growth plans, including its £1.1 billion terminal transformation.

Held on Wednesday, April 30 at the Radisson Blu Hotel adjacent to the terminal, the fair brought together 30 employers based at the airport – including MAG Stansted, Ryanair, Flightworx, Border Force, Jet2.com, World Duty Free, Swissport and DHL.

Almost 500 positions were available across areas such as security, engineering, customer service, hospitality and logistics,

From early morning, the event was buzzing as jobseekers from across the East of England met employers, learned about career paths, and applied for roles.

MAG Stansted, the airport operator, was recruiting for more than 40 roles, including positions to support the early phases of its transformation project, which will deliver major upgrades to the airport, including an extension to the terminal.

Kate Folling, London Stansted’s People Director, said:

“The event was a great success – the atmosphere was fantastic, and there really were opportunities for almost every skill set and background. Our £1.1 billion transformation project is now under way, and that means even more opportunities will be coming in the months and years ahead as we grow and invest in our future making it an exciting time to join the airport community.”

Airport-based aviation services company Flightworx was among the exhibitors at the event, actively recruiting for new roles to support its growing operations. Client Services and Procurement Manager, Dana Cross, said:

“The event was extremely busy, with a fantastic turnout of people genuinely interested in building a career in aviation. It was inspiring to meet so many motivated and capable candidates, all eager to take the next step. The energy in the room was really positive, and it’s clear there’s a strong pool of local talent ready to seize new opportunities.”

With more than 12,000 people already working across the airport, London Stansted plays a vital role in the local economy and is committed to creating jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities for people living in the region.

Stansted Airport College also took part in the event showcasing the training and career pathways it offers to young people. Victoria Clayden Smith, Head of Centre at Stansted Airport College, said:

“Events like this are fantastic for our students. It’s great to see first-hand the range of career paths available right on their doorstep. It helps learners build confidence, engage directly with employers, and understand what’s possible. With the airport continuing to grow and invest in its future, there will be even more exciting opportunities ahead for our students.”

Attendees were also able to find out about the wide range of benefits available to airport staff, including the popular Airport Travel Card, which offers significant discounts on public transport, making commuting to the airport more affordable and sustainable.

Attending the event was jobseeker David Albiston from Harlow who visited to explore new career opportunities and connect with employers. He said:

“I had no idea there were so many different careers available at the airport – it was really eye-opening. I spoke to a few companies that I’m really interested in, and I’ve already applied for two roles. It’s brilliant to have something like this so close to home.”
