Review: Anyone and Everyone: A play that should be seen by every college in the country

WE really liked the work of the Offbook Theatre Company last year and we really enjoyed their latest production, “Anyone and Everyone” on Friday night.
A day in the life of a Sexual Health Clinic may not be everybody’s “go to subject” but this was entertaining, educational and informative (see Lord Reith for details).

It was a serious subject, dealt maturely and sensitively but it was never po-faced. It got the balance right perfectly.
It benefited from a number of things. Once again, Cara-Grace Thornton is a really good actress but an even better scriptwriter. We are really enjoying following her career. Cara is a serious talent writing about serious subjects.
She was ably assisted by producer/director, Annabelle Irvine, who directed a well disciplined play. With the stage divided into several parts, it would have been easy to get confused. Not here.
This was an unflinching look at life in a sexual health clinic. But you never felt uncomfortable.
Last year, we really warmed to the repertory theatre group feel. So it was good to see Charlie O’Connell, Olivia Burnam and Skye Nyamambi return.
They all carved out their characters really well. Whether it was comedy or the more serious aspects, they really judged the mood and tone to perfection.
This play succeeded in being part comedy, part drama and part public information event.
There was even a True/False audience participation part, which was really good.
By the end, we felt that this should be doing a tour of colleges throughout the country.
This was a really professional production by a group of talented practitioners. We know it is tough out there but we do hope they are all here for the long haul.
We do hope they get the support from Harlow and beyond.
