IN a heartwarming tribute to history and community spirit, Purford Green Primary School marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a delightful street party lunch and an afternoon concert on the field.
One of the highlights of the event was a concert featuring pupils singing a range of classic 1940s songs.

Additionally, some Year 5 students had the honour of serving cream teas to local World War II veterans and elderly residents from the town.

Head of School, Rachel Thomson, expressed pride in the children’s participation and the sense of community that the event fostered. “It is important for our children to understand the significance of VE Day and to pay tribute to those who fought for our freedoms.
“Today was not just about celebrating; it was about remembering and honouring the past.”
