Cricket: From the balcony at Marigolds………
Cricket / Sun 1st Jun 2025 at 10:14am

OVER the last three weeks cricket at the home of Harlow Cricket Club has been dynamic. From a spectator’s point of view, each match, two with our 2nd XI and the only one home game so far for our 1st’s have resulted in pulsating explosive cricket and home victories.
Every Saturday afternoon, the club balcony and ‘250 Family Garden’. has been filled with supporters and their families. Even The Oldies perched in the ‘Old Pavilion’ have been kind with their observations with the odd compliment and round of applause with balls flying out of the ground in many different directions.
Add to this entertainment, the recent Sunday League Cup T20 tie was full of excitement, well, whilst Harlow were batting, sadly the opposition had a very bad day, but a win is a win and we go though to the next round.
There have been so many brilliant performances each Saturday all well documented in our reports so no need to repeat other than to say, if you have yet to come to Marigolds, here in the old town this summer, and you enjoy your cricket accompanied by a glass of beer or wine, come on down.
We always host two games of entertaining cricket every Saturday, all we need now is less wind and more sunshine.
In response to the odd ‘critic’ suggesting there is another cricket club in our town, right and not forgotten, everyone here at Marigolds watch with interest our friends at Harlow Town CC results and delighted to read of their fine victory last weekend. We want as much cricket as possible played in our town.
It is a shame we do not play each other that often in recent years but we are hopeful that will change, it is good for the game and our ‘friendship’ plus the important combined promotion both clubs contribute with cricket played here in Harlow.
