The Downs Primary given overwhelming backing by parents following survey

A RECENT parental survey conducted at The Downs Primary School and Nursery has
revealed overwhelming satisfaction with the school’s performance across several key areas,
including student happiness, safety, behaviour management, academic expectations, and
communication. The survey, paints a picture of a school community built on trust, care, and
high standards.

Parents expressed strong confidence in their children’s overall wellbeing at the school. When
asked whether “My child is happy at this school,” 95% positive response rate. Safety ratings
were equally impressive, reflecting a school environment where children feel both secure and
content.

The school’s academic standards and expectations were also met with approval. When asked
whether “The school has high expectations for my child,” and“My child does well at this
school,” nearly 9 in 10 families believe the school sets appropriately high standards, showing
parents not only trust the school’s academic rigour but also feel it is effectively supporting
student success. One parent commented informally, “I can see how much my child has
progressed — both in learning and confidence.”
The school’s communication practices also received strong endorsement, with a 95%
satisfaction rate. Parents feel well-informed and involved in their child’s education, thanks to
consistent updates via meetings, reports, or digital tools. One parent noted informally,

parent echoed this sentiment, with one stating:
“We always know where our child stands. The school sets the bar high and helps students
meet it.”
In light of the survey, Rob Calderwood, the school’s Headteacher, expressed gratitude:
“We are delighted with the trust and confidence our families have shown in our work. These
results reflect our commitment to high standards, student growth, and strong home-school
partnerships. We will continue working hard alongside our community to build on this
feedback. .
Emma Bloomfield, Executive Headteacher for PCLC was proud of the strong vote of
confidence the local community has shown the school stating;
