Harlow teaching assistant recognised in King’s Birthday Honours

A HARLOW teaching assistant has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Susan Mapp is a special educational needs and disability co-educator at Cooks Spinney Primary Academy.
Sue has worked at Cooks Spinney for 33 years and is highly respected for her dedication and concerns for each and every pupil.

Sue found out in May but is clearly very good at keeping a secret.
Sue left the following comment on our Facebook page.
Sue said: “Thank you all so much for all your lovely kind messages. At the moment I’m so overwhelmed.
A massive thank you to my husband Stuart and family. My twin sister Sally, Sarah Lyon’s and Tegan for a lovely nomination.
A big thank you to my Cooks Spinney family, to all the students and their families past and present, what a journey I’ve had and am still having, but sadly this is my last year as I prepare to retire.
“Thank you again for all your kind words and support”.
She has been award a BEM for services to Special Educational Needs.

Well done to Susan for all her efforts over the years. Shame she only got a BEM and probably won’t even get a trip to the palace. It’s a great shame that the top honours are reserved for the likes of David Backham. It sends a signal to the rest of us about our royalty and politicians- Who they really value and who they want to spend their time with. Again, Thank you Susan, we value you you and those like you!
Well done and I echo the points while a BEM is nice. It is a shame the real normal people who do a valuable jobs are not rewarded higher those are for people with political connections or donations etc. Dedication like this is surly deserving of a MBE.
