Entertainment / Thu 26th Jun 2025 at 07:50am

ED Sheeran will perform three concerts at Portman Road this July and Greater Anglia has arranged extra trains to help Ed Sheeran fans travel home from Ipswich after each show.

On Friday 11, Saturday 12, and Sunday 13 July, additional services will run on the mainline from Ipswich after each performance. Passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow more time for their journeys.

Greater Anglia is warning passengers that there are still likely to be large queues and very busy trains, because of the expected number of people. Customers are advised to use the full length of trains and platforms.

The final train services from Ipswich station will run as follows:

There will be limited connecting services to Clacton-on-Sea on all three nights and extremely limited connecting services to Harwich Town on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July only.

The full post-concert train timetable from Ipswich station can be found here.

James Steward, Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, said:

“While we are running more trains, we are still expecting services to be very busy. We would therefore encourage everyone to check before they travel and allow more time for their journeys.

“We will do as much as we can to help people travel and there will also be extra staff on hand to provide assistance and information.”

To save time and beat the queues, passengers are advised to buy tickets online or via the Greater Anglia app before they travel and people travelling in groups of three or more can save money with GroupSave.

Greater Anglia is also drafting in extra staff, land sheriffs, and installing barriers to manage the large number of passengers expected at Ipswich station. In addition, Greater Anglia is highlighting the #BeSafeBeSound campaign which is operated by Counter Terrorism Policing. The campaign aims to keep the public safe at live music events encouraging people to tell security if they see something that doesn’t feel right.
