Incredible ACL Essex learner from Harlow wins top award

ACL Essex has recognised a Harlow-based learner with a top award at a prestigious award ceremony. The celebration event took place at Central Baptist Church, Chelmsford, on Thursday 10 July.

The adult education provider’s annual awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions made throughout the academic year. Inspiring learners were praised for a wide range of achievements from resilience to commitment to lifelong learning. Each learner or apprentice embodied the core values of ACL Essex, being inclusive, inspiring, and ambitious in all they pursued.

Cllr Tony Ball, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability, said: “Each nominee has shown dedication, resilience, and a passion for learning that inspires. From family learning and digital innovation to wellbeing and inclusion, the awards highlight the many ways education transforms lives. I’d like to thank all the learners, staff, and partners for the difference they are making every day.”

Overseeing ACL Essex’s work across the county is Lisa Jarentowski, ACL Essex Principal. She was thrilled to present these awards to the recipients. She said: “This is my third year presenting awards at our annual ceremony. It’s a pleasure to hand out these awards to our exceptional learners, staff and partners. It’s amazing to see all the incredible accomplishments they’ve achieved this year; it’s truly rewarding to acknowledge their hard work and success.”

Angela Alvarez from Bishops Stortford, studied Nail Art at Harlow ACL Essex, won the Progression and Achievement Award. The award panel said: “Not only has this person’s work been outstanding, her willingness to learn and progress, but she has been supportive with others needs creating transcription their language helping creating group chats to support them. She has won her class Nail Art award which showed amazing results and techniques more advanced than course requirements. She is conscientious, supportive, friendly and always willing to help others.”
