Bell Hotel Epping: Woman charged with assault and criminal damage

A WOMAN has been charged with two offences as part of our investigation into disorder in Epping.
Joanne Winter was arrested in Epping on Sunday 27 July during a planned protest event.
During that event, a number of people became involved in disorder.
The 27-year-old, of Deptford Church Street, London, SE8, has now been charged with assault and criminal damage.
She has been released on bail to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.
Winter is the twenty-second person to be charged as part of our wider investigation into incidents of disorder in Epping in July.
In total, 32 people have been arrested or interviewed as part of those investigations.

Well done Essex Police, dealing with these people firmly has prevented wider disorder disrupting the peaceful protests by Epping people.

I think you will find that people like women charged very much reflects the vast majority of the protesters involved, i.e. they do not come from Epping or have a genuine connection to the town and are in fact connected to part of a political movement. From the people I have spoken to and from what I am seeing on social media, I believe that the opinion of people in Epping is turning against these protests and the people involved.

Mikel, given the police have never broken down which side the person arrested was on, why do you assume only one side has had arrests? I would agree that the largest group of 700? came from outsiders from the Socialist worker and stand up to racism, both political movements of the left. I would also agree that if there is to be any further protests, then it should be just locals. Let's hope BOTH sides are respectfull of this. My own feeling is that they are winding down given the silent majority have raised a very loud voice in saying enough is enough and the point has now been made in very clear and obvious manner. Time to get back to normality and we await the full hearing of the case in October
