Hare Street Primary set to host Black History Multicultural Festival

Communities / Mon 29th Sep 2025 at 08:21am

HARE Street Primary School has come to the rescue and is set to host the annual Black History Multicultural Festival.

The event has been running at Harlow Town Park for the last few years but with the fire at the Bandstand that has been made unavailable.

There has been some controversy about that decision but we may come to that later.

Meanwhile, Mr Coster and his team at Hare Street have offered their school and grounds for the day of celebration.

Details of the event are on the poster.

Latino history month? Caucasian History month? Mongoloid History month? Australoid History month? Amerindian History month? Utter nonsense I studied Martin Luther king at secondary school it was called history why does a certain demo-graph want its own history month rather than just be history? All very attention seeking very much like the mental health pride month.

We have Black History Month because the white folks erased black figures from history. An example is Mary Seacole, an army nurse during the Crimean War. Florence Nightingale got the credit, but Mary Seacole set up her own nursing facility close to the front line, unlike Nightingale's hospital hundreds of miles away. The Mary Seacole Trust says: "Mary was able to visit the battlefield, sometimes under fire, to nurse the wounded. Indeed, she nursed sick soldiers so kindly that they called her ‘Mother Seacole’."
