Rugby: Harlow Colts suffer heavy defeat against Braintree
Rugby / Mon 6th Oct 2025 at 07:47am
HARLOW hosted Braintree this Sunday in a test for our players against a strong Braintree team. The weather was overcast and dry which helped encourage flowing play.

This week we welcomed back to the squad Jack White after a long time out of the game due to injury, his appearance at scrum half made and impact on the game and we look forward to developing Jack and all our players as the season progresses.
We held a bake sale and raffle to raise money for an end of season tour before during and after the game contributing a massive £1271 to our fund.
The Veo recording of the game is available here: https://app.veo.co/matches/20251005-harlow-colts-vs-braintree-7f8a9419/
First Half
Harlow started the game well, but it wasn’t to be Harlow’s day and Braintree we able to run in 5 tries.
Half time 0-33
The team talk was focused on, ball retention at the break down and work rate to get into position to
support your talking and listing to your teammates.
Second Half
Harlow began the second half well and were able to go on the attack, when we do what we can do,
we open up space and are able to put people through the gaps. From one of these breaks, George
Starling was able to step, change direction and bamboozle defenders before touching down. Alfie
Trant converted. 7-88.
Braintree were very good for the remainder of the second half running in seven tries.
Final Score 7-80
Next week we are back to the league and we travel to Woodford.
Thank you to Alfie Trant for washing the shirts this week, Callum Potter for running touch, Daryl Cox
for patching players up and running the Veo. Joy Wood for taking wonderful photos. Lastly Rhys
Eynon and Injured skipper Sam Cox for doing the scoreboard.
Work ons: ball retention at the break down work rate, fitness.
