NET Academies Trust school, Katherines Primary Academy, enjoyed a visit today from Chris Vince MP in advance of the forthcoming Parliament Week.

Chris was given a guided tour of the school building by two of our Pupil Advocates, Kaiden and Irene, before being introduced to the school council which has been renamed Katherines Parliament – the representatives who were democratically voted in are known as Members of Katherines Parliament – where he talked to them about their role in the school.
Finally, Chris took part in question and answer sessions with both KS1 and KS2 children. The children rose to the opportunity to engage with Harlow’s elected representative at Westminster and asked excellent questions.
Nick Newton, Year 6 teacher with responsibility for the Katherines Parliament, said, “It was a great opportunity for the children to meet with their local MP whilst they are learning about the democratic process and they thoroughly enjoyed the visit. It is important to engage children with our parliamentary system as they are the voters of tomorrow.”
The pictures show Chris with the Pupil Advocates who showed him around the school, Chris with the MKPs and then the Q&A session.
That's so unfair on Chris Vince, putting him up against two 11 year-olds asking him awkward questions.
I bet he told them he used to be a teacher.
