ONE of Stewards Academy’s annual traditions is the Christmas Fete organised by staff to raise funds for the ‘Stewards Christmas Appeal’. All monies raised are invested back into the school and local community to support those in need.

Planning and preparation for the event starts early in the autumn term with discussions about stalls, organisation of donations and event promotion. This is then followed by wrapping, labelling, bagging of sweets and treats and baking!

Staff and students from across the school came together to support the event and run stalls including the ‘human fruit machine’, ‘guess the teacher’, lucky dips, tombolas, glitter tattoos, candles and soaps, knitted items, to name some! Visitors were also treated to hot chocolate and cake stall for refreshments. 

This year we expanded our preloved books, toys and clothes stall after some fantastic donations. 

Bigger than ever were the raffle and homemade cake stall. Word was out that Mrs Penny had been baking and staff and visitors swept into buy many delicious treats including reindeer chocolate cake, macaroons, lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut amongst many more! Prizes for the raffle included chocolate bouquets, event tickets, gift vouchers and much more. A huge thankyou to everyone that donated the fabulous prizes. 

The Christmas Fete is the brainchild of Mrs Atkinson, DSL, and through her hard work, dedication and ability to rally the troops it was even bigger and better than ever this year. The money raised will be of great impact to those in need of support, particularly at this time of year.

We had one of our year 11s as a brilliant Father Christmas, the music department leading students and staff in singing carols, and a range of food, fun and treats. It was a great event and my thanks to all involved and Mrs Atkinson for her wonderful organisation.”
