Harlow MP Chris Vince urges residents to reject “the politics of division and decline” in 2026

News / Mon 5th Jan 2026 at 04:17pm

HARLOW Labour MP Chris Vince is urging people in Harlow to reject “the politics of division and decline” in 2026 and get behind the Labour Government’s plan to deliver a Britain that works for everyone.

As Labour enters its second full year back in government, Chris Vince has returned to Parliament focused on delivering for local residents – campaigning on priorities such as the cost of living, cutting NHS waiting lists, and attracting new investment to Harlow.

Looking ahead to 2026, Chris Vince says he is confident Britain is starting to turn a corner after years of division and decline under Conservative rule – a message he says is still being echoed by other opposition parties, including Reform UK and the Green Party. By contrast, he points to decisions already taken by the Labour Government that are beginning to make a real difference to people’s lives, with more benefits to come over time.

One of the government’s main priorities is easing the cost of living. Measures coming into effect this year include:

£150 off average energy bills from April
An increase in the National Living Wage worth £900 a year for millions of low-paid workers
Rail fares frozen for the first time in 30 years
The fuel duty cut extended until September
The £3 bus fare cap extended until at least March 2027
Prescription charges frozen to keep them under £10
Free breakfast clubs opening in 500 more schools in April, saving parents up to £450 a year
Ending the Two Child Limit, lifting 450,000 children out of poverty
A State Pension rise of up to £575 a year thanks to the Triple Lock

Chris Vince says there is “still much more to do” but believes the country is moving in the right direction – and that this year more people in Harlow and across Britain will begin to feel the benefits of Labour’s approach.

With more police on the streets by March, lower energy bills, new health hubs opening in April, fewer asylum hotels in use, and increased funding for local communities, he says 2026 will show that decline is not inevitable – and that Britain can do better.

How much new investment has Chris Vince attracted to Harlow? He supported the 9 year delay in delivering the new hospital to this town.

None of these are going to attract new investment in Harlow, everything which is going off right now was conservative led. What is Chris doing can he give 5 clear examples? love him or not Robert Halfon did work hard for the town. I notice Chris did not run the jobs fair Robert used to run, is that because he knows companies are shrinking not growing under labour. https://order-order.com/2026/01/05/family-firms-say-the-1970s-were-a-better-era-for-business-than-under-labour/

Unfortunately we don't have a say anymore, decisions are made before we are made aware of them. No government cares we both longer have money to spare

Chris Vince must be the worst MP Harlow as ever had. He is just a Starmer lapdog. He has said nothing on the serious threats to our rights and freedoms introduced by this authoritarian administration, namely: • cancelling local elections • seriously restricting our Common Law rights to trial by jury • introducing Soviet style ID cards. • presiding over record numbers of illegal migrants entering our country at huge cost both financial and cultural. We need to be rid of him and the Starmer administration as soon as possible. He is useless.

Just one more point re the £150. from the community note which just got tagged on Starmers tweet saying the same. "It is important to note that when Labour 1st promised a £300 reduction in energy bills on 01/06/24, the price cap stood at £1,570. Today it stands £1,758. A £150 reduction means bills will still be higher than when they were elected." They think we are idiots.

Given small businesses are closing, pubs are struggling, who is going to employ people at the minimum or living wage. There are only so many people that can work at McDonald's. Small businesses were once the lifeblood of the economy, now they are struggling to just stay afloat. Didn't Rishi Sunak at the last election warn us of huge tax rises to which Sir Kier said, these are just lies and untruths. I am lucky I have a good job but even I am saving more and spending less worrying about what is around the corner

Hopefully next year Your Harlow will revisit this story "As Labour enters its second full year back in government, Chris Vince has returned to Parliament focused on delivering for local residents – campaigning on priorities such as the cost of living, cutting NHS waiting lists, and attracting new investment to Harlow." and ask Chris what he has personally achieved on the priorities above. Also can anyone enlighten me what Chris has delivered on for the local residents in the last 18 months.?

There is very little division and decline Mr Vince. The nation entirely agrees that this is the worst governments in the last 30 years with one of the most two faced and spineless prime ministers we have ever had. As to our own mp, there also seems to be a lot of agreement. Our mp is like the invisible man and a vacuous voice box for his party rather than being a representative for his constituents. I think we are also agreed that Labours attempt to remove democratic votes is bringing the U.K. in line with most banana republics. So you crack on with your £93k plus expenses telling yourself you're a man of the people, whilst the people agree you are the worst mp we've ever had.

On a basic salary of £94k plus very generous expenses and allowances, Chris Vince must be the most expensive muppet in the country. Luckily, he will be gone come the next election

Is it all show with no substance or irrelevant nonsense that shows verbal diarrhea. Lets look at the local achievements for my area of Potter Street based on MP Vince's statements: "more police on the streets by March", Potter Street cannot get just one officer to walk our streets today. Mr Halfon, Adam, also has to answer to that as well. "New health hubs opening in April". Really? In Potter Street it lost its doctors' surgery back in 2018 and despite MP Vince attending some protests has done nothing to restore it. And Adam, Mr Halfon must also take most of the blame. And finally, "increased funding for local communities". In Potter Street, like all the other nieghbourhoods, it lost their local council offices. When will they return or will the former office in Potter Street remain empty for another 20 years? Improvement in 2026, do me a favour!

More meaningless waffle from our non-entity MP. All opinion polls show that Harlow and most of Essex are going to Reform. Chris Vince is an irrelevance.

Chris Vince fails to mention the Renters' Rights Act or the Employment Rights Act. Obviously, they are not right-wing enough for him to mention, much better for him to play David Lammy's lapdog in restricting an 800 year-old right to trial by jury, despite David Lammy being labelled Calamity Lammy and a hypocrite.

David Forman

Chris Vince can't even be bothered to take notice of research I've sent him showing which issues are the best to mention in tackling Reform. But then he always thought he was God's gift to politics. The commentators on here think otherwise.

Carolyn

Brian, Labour is running the country; running it into the ground. Labour is a disaster and wholly incompetent.
