Harlow’s Reform councillor “furious” over council request to cancel local elections

HARLOW’S sole Reform councillor has hit out at the Conservative-run council’s decision to request this May’s local election be cancelled.
Mark Hall councillor Paul Jago said: “May I say I am extremely disappointed, if not furious, that the May elections have been cancelled and the complete contempt shown to the people of Harlow. Democracy has been given an almighty blow in today’s world of self-preservation above all else.

I know “Building Harlow’s Future” is a worthy cause, but to use this as a lever to deny people their rights is a disgrace.
Do the people in control of the council think councillors are not worthy or incapable of knowing what Harlow people hold dear?
An under-used word is called co-operation, with council projects etc. Councillors are put in place to represent the people of Harlow who voted for them/us. Have they forgotten “voted for them/us?” It now seems to me that democracy doesn’t matter to some people anymore.
“I understand the many reasons that are being expressed as to why these elections have been cancelled e.g. money, waste of time as we will have to repeat it all again next year.
But, if “similar” circumstances arise again will the same excuse be used?”
I completely agree Paul. It is a shame that the current council believe all current spending would just stop if they aren't in control. That isn't how council funding works. There were 11 local councillor seats up for election. I can only assume that the fear of Reform has become so great that the only way to prevent a landslide turnover is to cancel elections altogether.
The Labour councillors could not run Harlow, and Reform would be just the same.
So Paul, what will Reform do for Harlow, please?
Phil, The spending would stop because, Labour did not spend when they were in power in Harlow, and they were in for many years. Reform does not have anyone who knows what they are doing , just check other councils run by Reform , they are all in trouble
Of course he wants the elections now. The wheels are coming off the Farage project so they want to get more of these philistines, racists and misogynists elected before Harlow's decent people find them out and reject them. I'm ashamed to find that my local ward has a Farage tool as a representative!
Nick Gunning, racists? The only party found guilty of institutional racism by a credible, independent body is the Labour Party by the Equality and Human Rights Commission. It was a Labour led West Midlands Council that intervened to stop Jewish football supporters from attending the football match at Aston Villa. You disgusting, traitorous, woke, fascist lefties are the problem with our society. You have permeated our schools and public services like a cancer. However, your days are numbered. Patriotic Reform will restore our once proud nation and you traitors will be out. Plus Paul Jago is a great representative for our ward, far more than that commie Momentum Lannie Shears
"and you traitors will be out" care to elaborate Sean?
