Police investigating two Essex addresses after woman dies from overdose

Crime / Mon 26th Jan 2026 at 01:52pm

ESSEX Police say they are carrying out an investigation into the illegal distribution of drugs after a 55-year-old woman died of a potent sedative overdose. Heidi Williams died from an overdose of opiate and Bromazolam toxicity reports the Local Democracy Reporter.

Ms Williams died at her home address in Northamptonshire on December 14, 2024. That death sparked a review of her mobile phone that showed that she was ordering a large number of tablets from a mobile number revealing banking details and links to two addresses in Essex.

Bromazolam has not been approved for use in the United Kingdom but it’s use is becoming increasingly common among drug users. Northamptonshire Police have been in correspondence with Essex Police asking they look into this matter.

A statement from Essex Police said: ” We are carrying out an investigation into the illegal distribution of prescription drugs. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
