Harlow MP Chris Vince gives full backing to under-fire prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer

Chris Vince / Mon 9th Feb 2026 at 04:24pm

HARLOW MP Chris Vince has given his full backing to beleaguered prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer.

The Labour prime minister has been under pressure over the last few days following a series of departures by his advisors. Many of the departures have followed the scandal involving former UK Ambassador, Lord Mandelson.

The Harlow MP, who was elected in May 2024, has welcomed the prime minister to Harlow, on a number occasions with the PM visiting The Downs School, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Harlow Town Football Club.

YH contacted Mr Vince. He said: “We won the General Election with Sir Keir as our leader and he has a mandate to deliver.

Waiting lists are falling, wages are rising and we are supporting renters and leaseholders in Harlow.

“He has my full support.”

The polling very clearly shows that Starmer no longer has a mandate.

Am fed up with leadership changes over and over, esp as we don't get to elect replacements. I have to say too I like Starmer. He seems fairly decent, fairly smart, certainly not a massive boorish personality, unlike Boris and I can never imagine Starmer hiding in a fridge.. However, he should never have employed Mandy. Mandleson had done enough rubbish stuff even not taking the friendship with Epstein into account. Labour said they would 'clean up politics and crack down on cronyism', so am sorry to say, he has to go. He's lost trust of fellow MP's (sorry Vince!) and the electorate, it's too big a mistake and reflects really poorly on Labour.

You only have to look at those Chris Vince gave full backing to, to see what it actually means. Harlow's Waspi women, Harlows pensioners and Harlows farmers to name just a few. Mr Vince said "We won the General Election with Sir Keir as our leader and he has a mandate to deliver" The problem has been that Labour have largely done many things NOT in the manifesto that have enraged the electorate, whilst ignoring many of the things they were voted into do. They had 14 years to get themselves ready for government and once in government, they have shown to be clueless, unworthy and damaging to the people of the U.K. As to Mr Vince, should we ever see such a lickspittle candidate again then we know what we will get. An mp of service, self service.

Hardly surprising that the sycophantic Chris Vince, our worst ever MP supports his paymaster, our worst Prime Minister. Neither of them is going to be around for much longer....thankfully.

Seamus, to be fair, Labour have been chipping away at the things they said they were going to do in their manifesto. We just don't hear about it much. You can see here: https://fullfact.org/government-tracker/. - And please don't forget they've been in power for less than two years, and inherited one heck of a mucked up country. 14 years of planning isn't realistic, things change monthly, let alone 14 years ago!

Chris is just a yes man, like Starmer he will be gone soon - then we can have people who care about the Town and UK rebuilding our nation not just managed decline like the last 40 years.

So no concern over the victims, his lying boss to save his seat, labour are done, no mandate no care to the country

I voted Labour primarily because the torys were so bad. I am not that impressed with their performance. However, there is potentially slightly more than 3.5 years to the next election which perhaps gives them time to turn the economy around. With potential leadership candidates having blotted their copybooks it is not clear who could take over from Starmer. So, I believe that supporting the PM is correct. Labour will gain time to sort out their next leader without it being linked directly to external pressures. Andy Burnham, who looks like the pace setter, will become available in 2028 without causing a costly interim mayoral election. Labour gets a very bad press.Take farmers, they have backed down, but the real problem seems to be the prices paid by supermarkets yet how many protest about that. And pubs, how expensive is a pint outside of Wetherspoons and compared to supermarket prices. Chris, I will say one thing, I have emailed you 3 times on sensible, serious points yet you have never replied. Perhaps you prefer to hear to hear the views of school kids rather than an intelligent constituent.

Chris Vince has no principles. Look at his response the Razed Roof...dropped them like a hot potato. He supports a government that has done more U-turns than a driving school, cancelled elections, limited jury trials, wants ID cards, smashing the gangs with record dinghy crossings, etc. They know they are dead electorally speaking. Hope it happens sooner rather than later otherwise the damage will be too great.

Chris says “We won the General Election with Sir Keir as our leader and he has a mandate to deliver." So if Kier goes will Chris ask the new leader to call a general election so a new mandate can be sought.

Mr George, they certainly have been making lots of pledges and promises but as to the less than two years, I recall the election mantra, "We know what the problems are, we have a plan and they are all costed" and there was that absolute lie on "we will be a government of service" and yet they sought to bring in ID cards, tell people they put peoples wages and pensions up whilst keeping quiet about freezing the tax thresholds so the poorest amongst us now pay tax. Unemployment has gone up for every single month of their time in government. Kissed the ring of both China and the U.S. and left with deals that were an embarrassment. Then the chagos deal. There are only 50 U.K. armed forces personel on Diego Garcia but over 3,000 American armed personel but we are paying upto 30 billion to Mauritius, a country that has never owned the Chagos Islands and America doesn't pay a single cent in rent. Only Starmer could have sold out the U.K. in such a way whilst at the same time telling the people of the U.K. we don't have enough money for U.K. hospitals. He is no leader, he has the charisma of a wet flanel and is overseeing the downward spiral of the U.K.

Seamus is right. Why worry about the possible threat of Russia or China when we have an imbecile like Starmer inflicting as much damage. We need a General Election after the May local elections.

Let's not forget that Lord Mandelson personally vetted the GE2024 candidates which means he gave his seal of approval to Chris Vince. Vince took £10,000 for his election campaign from Labour Together on March 26, 2024, funded by wealthy businessmen and lobbyists for Israel, and the vehicle of Morgan McSweeney before becoming Starmer's chief of staff. During McSweeney's reign at Labour Together they incurred the wrath of the Electoral Commission over 20 infractions relating to donations and accounting records. This resulted in a fine of £14,250 in September 2021. In the following link you can see Harlow CLP received a gift of £10,000 for GE2024 campaign on page 7, plus multiple donations to Labour Together from Britain's No.1 lobbyist for Israel Trevor Chinn and his fellow Israel lobbyists Lord David Sainsbury and Gary Lubber of Autoglass fame. You can also see Martin Taylor, City slicker and hedge fund manager, making many large donations. So Chris vince backs Starmer, well there is no surprise there. I think they call that self preservation. Starmer is hanging on the door frame of number 10 by his fingernails. This government is riddled with corruption., but at least he got his freebies, while messing with our farming and fishing industries. Hammering our elderly and taking away our democratic right to vote for the last 2 years. Why? Because they know they are on to a hiding to nowhere and they stand zero chance of being voted in again . It speaks volumes. Regarding security there is none in any way shape or form. Ppl come into this country via boats etc illegally and are given everything, put up in hotels in our communities, given phones, money. Driving lessons. Medical. Even taxis to medical appointments. All young men of fighting age. Abusing, raping and murdering young girls and women. we are the chumps that are footing the bill for these undesirables and this government is putting our own in harms way. But this Government are SMASHING THE GANGS! . Our own are driven into poverty having to feed themselves and their families from food banks. Some of our veterans who fought for this country are on the streets and homeless. Security it's a bloody joke! Let's face it your a yes man. If starmer asked you to jump, you would ask how high? Shame on you Mr Vince your a disgrace. Let's see what your response is when they finally prise starmer fingers from that door frame of number 10.

Correction: Gary Lubner of Autoglass fame. Plus let's not forget Labour Together hired private investigators to dig dirt on Sunday Times and Guardian journalists. I wonder if Chris Vince, formerly chair of Amnesty International's Harlow branch, will condemn Labour Together for their dirty, undemocratic tactics? See article at https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/feb/06/labour-thinktank-close-to-morgan-mcsweeney-allegedly-paid-firm-to-investigate-journalists

I did Mr George but why ask me a question then answer it yourself? I also saw full facts other opinion too https://fullfact.org/politics/tracker-blog-september-2025/ . David you do make me chuckle. You managed two and a quarter sentences before mentioning israel, in a thread about our useless mp and prime minister. In the words of Frozen, let it go, let it go. You make no mention of Lord Waheed Alli throwing tens of Millions at labour now why would that be?

Well said Chris Vince. Leave the backstabbing and betrayal where it belongs in the nasty party. Now can the media focus on the people actually mentioned in the Epstein files like the Reform party leader?

Chris Vince again proves that he is a placeholder MP for a placeholder government. Good MPs champion constituency over party, this typically limp statement tells voters all they need to know.

Is gaining 34% of the vote a mandate? Apparently so. Mr Starmer is now getting the usual political rubbish from MP Vince again and the tributes of "he is doing a great job" and "we support him", inter alia. Even the Welsh secretary of state claims, Starmer has single handily improved this country. It is political nonsense of course. Add the fact he lied to his members' to get the job and you get the impression he will be gone by May 2026 if not sooner. Replaced by? Has anyone got a spare ticket to Vancouver this May?

Seamus, Lord Waheed Alli gave £700k to Labour over a 20 year period. His sum is small fry compared to the operation run by Labour Together, but no less corrupting. As for mentioning Israel, the actions of the Labour government in relation to Gaza show that its soul has been bought, as has Chris Vince, and explains their failure to acknowledge the genocide and their lacklustre approach to stopping all arms shipments. Rich business men have bought the policies which favour their interests and Mandelson has shown how they are repaid.

The sleaze created by central governments past and present is testament to the trickle down effect of this country being such a lawless place.People see politicians doing stupid things and getting away with it .What kind of message does that send to the electorate. These people should be role models of decency, compassion and honesty and they are anything but.The result of that is we now live in a country where respect for others around us seems to have gone out the window. Its time this downward "shittification" spiral in this country was halted by some decent politicians but then again pigs might fly.

Maybe Chris can ask the Deputy PM why at the time of Mandelson's appointment David Lammy said "He is the right man for the job" yet this week Lammy is claiming he tried to warn Starmer about him! Is this just another lying politician saying anything to keep their job?

Labour is an absolute shower of incompetence. This country is a trading nation with global interests. We need Ministers and MPs who have worked in the private sector and had the experience that running businesses brings. Most Labour MPS have no such experience. They believe in the magic money tree that others create and they plunder. This country cannot afford such a useless regime that destroys value, wealth and inspiration.
